Mark and Julie contacted me last year regarding their upcoming Vancouver wedding while they were still living and working in China. The time has passes so quickly since they booked me and here was the Sutton place wedding during one of the hottest summers since I moved to Vancouver. The groom has spent the night at the Opus Hotel in Yaletown and the bride had her suite at The Sutton place, 845 Burrard street Vancouver.

The couple first look took a place at the Sutton hotel bar, with its low light interior giving the bride a nice contrasty look in her wedding dress. The groom had already ordered their favorite drink for them and was waiting for Julie to surprise him in her gown. So here she comes…

The formals session destination had been at the last minutes changed and we headed out to Vancouver Yacht club shoot some shots at Marks family yacht and then had a quick ride around Stanley park to find a willow tree for Julie’s romantic dreamy shots.

And like at every wedding something comes up, Mark missed the turn at Stanley park and we had to go around the whole park in one way lane. So when we got to the Lagoon where the willow trees are located we had max 10 minutes to shoot there. But where to park the car? Well we left it on the merging lane for Vancouver downtown in a traffic with flashing lights on and my assistant in it in case the cops showed up to tow us. Then we run / literally / to the bushes and via shortcut directly under the best tree around there. Then I just politely asked couple of lovers to give up a park bench they were sitting for us / which they did once the bride showed up / and we shot these couple images. The raccoon was not planned he just passed me on the way to tree so why not to shoot him too / I mean photograph him… /

So we managed the formals, we got back to the hotel in time and the ceremony, cocktail party and the reception could take the place.

The evening party time picked up right after the cake cutting and first dance and thanks to the great organizing skills of wedding planner Sarah from DreamGroup Productions and amazing taste of DJ George form Spin Doctor DJ guests and the wedding couple could enjoy themselves in rhythm of the cool vibes. Another great wedding day we could be part of.
