Thomas and Janna engagement session had been planned since last year fall but due to certain circumstances like spider bite on Thomas forehead and really bad weather we had to reschedule couple time and finally got a chance to try on March 10th, 2013.

Shooting an engagement or a portrait session is always fun and these guys hit it right on since the beginning. The warm up in front of my telephoto nikon lens did not take long time and then Janna rocked with her hair flying in the air.

And Thomas did not stay behind. The man muscles were needed and to carry his loved one up and down in park alleys was a joy for him 🙂 This is what I repeat saying every couple we are about to photograph – forget about the photographer and enjoy yourself. Either it is the wedding or simple Vancouver engagement session. Being yourself is the key to capture real emotional images.

The weather was again nothing special, classic overcast day in Vancouver with rain behind the corner. To included that sky too much in the images would be a mistake so we chosen a part of Stanley park with beautiful tree coverages and it worked awesome. No harsh light made their eyes rested and comfortable.

The giggling and shy looks were popping out of the couple without any hesitations and the reason was my sometimes silly but consistent coaching what they should do. Surprise the couple and be ready to capture their reactions to jokes, goofing around and making fool from myself in front of them. Priceless. This is supposed to be fun and it works when you know how to handle it 🙂

And with any engagement shoot there should be a romance and intimate moments and these have to handled with care. You want to capture real emotions like that moment there was no camera pointed on them. If you can relax the couple so they do not care about you anymore than you get these kind of winning shots.  Being themselves and be able to feel  the smell of each other perfumes without thinking about their wedding photographer. Jackpot – unforgettable moments just unveiled and my camera was there quietly witnessing it and capture it for them.

The wedding is in April, and I am positive Thomas and Janna will enjoy every minute of it. I had seen them in action and they had a chance to get a sense of how I work. Mixing a candid with coached posing photographs, the right attitude and plus my european accent made them forget about the whole photo shoot and they nailed it. Relaxed and easygoing engagement session in the heart of the Vancouver Stanley park.

It might not be sunny on this day but if you look at their face expressions you know they had a blast and it is all about that. No faking, simply enjoying it. Great work guys. I am looking forward to your wedding day and let’s create some photography art there.
