Ocean, slight wind breeze in the air, romantic mountain scenery around you. Squamish sailing engagement was an amazing idea. Jake and Kristen decided for this shoot for a very simple reason. Almost every Friday they come here on their boat to enjoy each other and have a blast in this nature paradise. Second engagement session in this area during one weekend just after the Sea to Sky Gondola shoot a day before. Beautiful combination of ocean and glacier peaks above gives this place a unique privilege.

After we discussed logistics how we want this session to take place we started to sail at late hot afternoon from the Squamish yacht club. With Stawamus Chief peak behind us and Sea to Sky Gondola above our heads we headed to the open waters for some romantic date an a yacht.

Jake and Kristen love the scenery around their home town. We planned the shoot the way so first part of it I could spend with tow of them sailing on their boat and then their friends with two another boats caught up with us. I simply moved from one boat to another on the open sea to get different compositions and angles of them sailing around. What a great fun for all of us, trying to get each boat to a certain angle so the light was at its best for my images 🙂

I have to admit Jake and Kristen listened to my suggestions, they even brought set of outfits and they managed to change them through the session like nothing 🙂 The salty taste of the ocean on our faces was priceless while watching the golden hour around us. The increasing wind at the sunset made us to put some extra layers on. Getting cozy for them with a bottle of champagne was another great idea.

Easy going, relaxed evening spent with an amazing couple. They invited me to jump onboard of their yacht for the last part of the sailing towards the yacht club in Squamish . So couple more candid portraits of them in action  and the dusk got us at the docks.

I have to admit I love extraordinary photo ideas. As soon I heard about this from them I was hooked. Everyone is different. Unique engagement pictures can only show your personality out to your friends and family the way they know you. I am so glad that guys had a great time out there while they had my cameras around them :). I am looking forward to their wedding day in Squamish this August and I am sure they will have amazing time during it.

Cheers to Jake and Kristen, they finished the cruising with their symbolic beer at the end. To your great new beginnings from Povazan Photography.

  1. The pictures are fabulous. The two of you look like there is no one else in the world. The boat looks to be in a lot better condition then you had originally stated . See you soon . Our love to both of you Grandma and Papa
